A plan for 41 homes in Countesthorpe is on hold. The project faced lots of objections already. Hampton Oak Developments wanted to build them on land near Gillam Butts.

The planning committee was supposed to discuss it, but new flood maps came out. These maps show a high flood risk affecting the site’s entrance, according to Councillor Mike Shirley. The council will discuss the plan later, though they have not set a date yet.

Blaby District Council received the housing plan consisting of 31 open market homes and ten affordable homes. The open market homes range from two to four bedrooms and consist of detached or semi-detached houses. Each house gets parking spaces within their property line.

The plan is controversial in Countesthorpe, with over 560 people objecting and only a few supporting it. The Parish Council also objects to the project, which has already changed, reducing ten homes.

The Parish Council is particularly worried because they claim sewage problems already exist. Residents see sewage rising on Hallcroft Avenue. The council wants Severn Trent Water to check the sewers before any decision is made.

The project is now off the meeting agenda. Councillor Shirley explained the situation saying the new flood maps show a problem that the developer must address. The council officers must also look into it before presenting it at a later date.
