This week’s list includes twenty-five notices covering recent days, weeks, and months. One notice remembers a “remarkable” man whom many people loved. Another honors a woman whose passions were flower arranging and gardening.

Doreen Evelyn Beanlands (Ives) passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2025, at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Neil was her much-loved and treasured husband. Dawn and Kevin were her loving children, and Andrew, Jack, Bradley and Cameron were her adoring grandchildren. Robyn was her proud great-grandchild, and Alan was her greatly missed brother. Her funeral is March 5th, 2025, at 11:00 am at South Leicestershire Crematorium.
Iris Birkin was the beloved wife of the late John. She was a loving Mum to Pauline & Kevin, Trisha & Colin, Peter & Paul, and a treasured Big Mam, Grandma, and great-Grandma. Iris passed away on February 12th, 2025 at the age of 81. People loved her so much and everyone will sadly miss her. Her celebration of life is March 10th at Great Glen Crematorium at 12:30 pm.
Donna Gail Elizabeth Cook sadly passed away on February 16th, 2025, at the age of 59. Family and friends will sadly miss her. Donna’s funeral is March 12th, 2025, at Loughborough Crematorium at 11:30 am.
Timothy John Dakin passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2025, at the age of 73. His funeral is March 12th at Gilroes Crematorium, starting at 1 pm.
Ivor John Dann, age 83, passed away at Cedar Court Care Home on February 11th. He was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandad, Brother, and Uncle. Everyone will greatly miss him. His funeral is March 18th at South Leicestershire Crematorium, starting at 1:00 pm.
Ellen Mary Teresa (Eileen) Fogarty (Nee Laffan) passed away on February 10th, 2025, at the age of 82. AnnMarie, Mary, and Carole were her beloved daughters. Andy, Wayne, and Jason were her sons-in-law. Ben, Emma, Rachel, Kieran, Liam, Florence, and Hattie were her loving grandchildren. John, Michael, and Pat were her cherished siblings. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. The Requiem Mass is March 7th at 11 am at St Patrick’s R.C. Church, followed by burial at Gilroes Cemetery.
Monica Mary Fox, of Knighton, Leicester, passed away after a short illness on January 30th, 2025. She was 79 years old. Susan, Ashley, Maria, Adrian, and Natasha were her devoted children, and Nathan, Ellie, Tom, Elliott, and Zack were her inspirational grandchildren. Fox and Kinley were her wonderful great-grandchildren. Her family will sadly miss Monica and will fondly remember her. The funeral is March 6th at Holy Cross Church, starting at 11:00 am.
Gordon Ellis Grouse passed away peacefully at Whetstone Grange Care Home on February 4th, 2025, at the age of 93. His family surrounded him with love. Linda, Janet, and Christine were his cherished daughters. Kevin, Roscoe, and Dave were his dear sons-in-law. Matthew, Daniel, Ashley, Ryan, Emily and Beckie were his loving grandchildren, and he had ten great-grandchildren. Gordon will be sadly missed and loved by everyone who knew him. The funeral is March 19th at Countesthorpe Crematorium at midday.
Doreen Mary Hadley passed away peacefully in hospital on February 20th, 2025, at the age of 84. Barry was her late husband; Annette was her loving daughter; Amy was her amazing granddaughter; Chris was her grandson-in-law; and Oliver was her proud great-grandson. Mark was her dear son-in-law; David, Tony, and the late Gwendoline were her special siblings. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. “Reunited with Barry” xxx. Her funeral is March 21st, 2025, at All Saints Church, Asfordby at 1:30 pm, followed by cremation at Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium.
Valerie Mary Hodgson is reunited with her husband Peter after passing away peacefully on February 4th at the age of 92. Val will be loved by all her family and friends, and everyone will miss her. Val’s funeral is at Gilroes Crematorium on March 18th at 10.30am.
Susan “Sue” Kenny passed away peacefully on February 15th at the age of 79. Ian was her beloved husband; Joanne and Tom are her loving children; and she had four devoted grandchildren. Her Funeral Mass is March 19th at St. Peter’s RC Church, Hinckley, beginning at 12.00 noon.
Edward George (Nobby) Knight passed away suddenly at home on February 3rd, 2025, at the age of 83. Jean, who passed before him, was his much loved Wife. He was Shirley’s loving Partner. Paula and David were his beloved children. Jessica, Cherie, and Danielle were his grandchildren. Florence, Matilda, and Lottie were his great-grandchildren. Mick and Shirley were his siblings. Everyone who knew him will miss him. The funeral is March 7th at South Leicester Crematorium, starting at 4:00pm.
Nigel Martyn Lloyd formerly lived in Oadby, Leicester and was from Casheltown, Dunkineely, Co Donegal. He was born February 28th, 1962, and died February 14th, 2025. Kim Pereira, his partner, is heartbroken. Angela and Roy Lloyd, his parents, are saddened. Lindsay, his sister, mourns him, as does John, his brother. Stew and Kay, his in-laws, grieve him. Dean, Kimberly, Lauren, Ruben, and Harvey, his nephews and nieces, miss him. His extended family is also grieving.
Muriel Long passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 27th, 2025. She was 101 Years old. Muriel’s Funeral is March 12th at South Leicester Crematorium at 12 Noon. The dress code is colourful, but black with a splash of colour also works.
Vilma Ann Martin is lovingly remembered as our beloved mum and grandma, who passed away on February 4th, 2025, at age 84. Her kindness stays in our hearts forever. Her funeral is March 7th, 2025 at Gilroes Cemetery at 1.30pm. Family and friends can honor her life at Kirby Muxloe Football Club.
Roger Miles, from Bagworth, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2025, at the age of 85. Celia, who passed before him, was his beloved wife. Robert and Victoria were his children; Pamela and Chris were his in-laws; and Emily, William, Helena, George, and Leo were his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. The funeral is March 7th, 2025, at Cross Hills Baptist Church, Bagworth at 1pm, followed by committal in Bagworth churchyard.
Raymond William (‘Raymondo’) Newcombe passed away peacefully at home on February 8th at the age of 96. He is reunited with Verona, the ‘love of his life.’ Lynda and John were his children; Maureen was his big sister; and he was a grandad and a great-grandad. Ray was remarkable and will be never forgotten. We celebrate his life March 12th at South Leicester Crematorium at 3pm. Ray asked for bright colors and requested that no one wear black.
Roger ‘Norman’ Smith lived in Kibworth Beauchamp and was the father of Kim and Rowena. He had two grandchildren, Josh and Molly. He passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2025, at the Royal Derby Hospital at the age of 86. The funeral is March 17th, 2025, at Bretby Crematorium, beginning at 2.30pm.
Catherine Mary (Mary) Smith died February 11th, 2025, at Richmond Village Care Home at the age of 89. Her home was Aston on Trent. David Smith was her late husband. Paul, Philippa, Helen, Joanna, and Martin were her kids. She was born in the Potteries and loved gardening and flower arranging. Her family and friends will miss her. The funeral is March 10th, 2025, at Trent Valley Crematorium at 2.30pm, and black is not needed.
Peter Alan Dawson Strevens passed away at LOROS Hospice, Leicester on February 13th, 2025, at the age of 86. He was Chairman of Ford & Slater Limited. Janet was his wife of 55 years. Nigel and Tim were his sons. He remembered the twins. George, Harvey, Darcey, Thomas, and Woodrow were his grandchildren. A private funeral will be at Great Glen Crematorium. People respected Peter’s polite manner; he was a true gentleman and will be missed.
Michael David Waterfield passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2025, at the age of 79. Lisa and Paul were his beloved children, and Colin and Joyce were his wonderful in-laws. Michael’s funeral is March 20th, 2025, at South Leicestershire Crematorium at 12.00pm.
Lynette Watson passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2025, at the age of 80. Lynn’s funeral is March 13th at Holy Trinity Church in Barrow-upon-Soar at 2.30pm.
Jennifer Barbara Wilcox resided in Stoney Stanton and passed away at Barons Park Nursing Home on January 31st, 2025, at the age of 79. We share the sad news of her passing. Jennifer was David Wilcox’s devoted wife; Andrew, Matthew, and Paul were her loving sons; and Thomas, Amelia, Dylan, Martha, and Hayden were her dear grandchildren. Hearts will forever cherish her memory. The funeral is March 14th, 2025, at South Leicestershire Crematorium at 11am.
Isabella (Isa) Wilkinson lived in Thringstone and sadly passed away on February 12th, 2025, at the age of 63. Her family and friends will sadly miss her. Isa wanted a private cremation, which takes place March 6th, 2025.
Merle Patricia Wray passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2025, at the age of 84. Harry who passed before her was her beloved husband. Mark, Julie, and Sally were her loving children. She was a much loved nanna and also a blue nanna. Her funeral is March 5th at St Wilfrid’s Church, Kibworth, starting at 11 am, followed by a private burial.
