A year since the Legacy Funeral Directors probe began after police found bodies and ashes. Families receive ongoing support.

Residents reported a police presence outside premises on Anlaby Road and Hessle Road. Early the next day, police were also seen in Beckside, Beverley. Extensive investigations occurred after that.
Police removed ashes and 35 bodies from Hessle Road, identifying 163 families linked to the ashes. A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of several crimes, including preventing a lawful burial and fraud, and remains on conditional bail.
In July, a 54-year-old woman was also arrested, suspected of money laundering offences and also remains on bail. Police sent evidence, including over 13,000 exhibits, to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which will consider the evidence in the case.
Local leaders are supporting affected people a year after the probe began. A private memorial service will be held this evening at Hull Minster for the families.
Police, leaders, and Victim Support have spoken out, offering thoughts and providing support, recognizing that anniversaries are difficult times. Help is available for anyone needing it.
Hull and East Riding councils are also offering support, acknowledging this is still a difficult time. A permanent memorial is planned for the summer at Northern Cemetery and Lelley Fields.
