Qualitas Energy proposes a vast 220-acre solar farm near Ferryside, Carmarthenshire, potentially powering thousands of homes.

The solar farm site is near Ferryside, spreading toward Llandyfaelog. The area covers about 220 acres, which is over one hundred football fields. People can share their thoughts on the plans, and this started on February 19th.
Qualitas Energy will listen to locals, with this first part ending March 19th. A second talk will discuss the solar farm design. Then, they will submit final plans.
Heolddu can make 40MW of electricity; because of this, the project is very important. Planning officials will need to approve it. The farm has two big areas: one covers 55 hectares, and the other is 25 hectares. Cables will connect these areas underground. Extra land will improve local nature.
The farm site will be farmland, sitting east of Ferryside village. Qualitas Energy said the farm is eco-friendly and could power about 10,770 homes yearly. This would cut carbon emissions a lot, almost 10,000 tonnes less per year. It can power Kidwelly, plus other towns, too.
Qualitas Energy is based in Madrid. Carmarthenshire wants to be carbon neutral by 2030. They declared a climate emergency in 2019. This solar farm can help.
The farm could make enough power to supply over 8,000 new homes. These homes should be built by 2033. The project can help lower carbon emissions and supports the council’s green goal.
An event shares details about the farm, and people express their concerns there. It happens Thursday, March 6, in Ferryside, starting at 1 PM and ending at 7 PM. It will be at the community center.
