Landslide Blocks Tracks Causing Edinburgh Rail Service Disruptions

Reports suggest a landslip near Beattock, likely caused by flooding according to The Daily Record. The West Coast Main Line, a busy route, links London, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Edinburgh.

Network Rail Scotland confirmed the closure, stating that all lines are blocked between Lockerbie and Carstairs. This blockage affects lines toward Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The rail network shared an update, noting the line closure between Carstairs and Lockerbie. Engineers will check for damage and urgently plan necessary repairs.

Network Rail posted a statement online, confirming a landslip between Lockerbie and Carstairs closed all lines. Trains between Carlisle and Motherwell/Edinburgh may be affected, potentially cancelled or delayed by 60 minutes, with disruption expected to last all day.

Avanti West Coast also issued a statement, citing flooding as the cause of blocked lines and impacting trains toward Glasgow and Edinburgh.
