A Lanarkshire mum mourns her son who defied odds after a stroke, living 14 years longer than doctors predicted.

In 2010, Ryan had a rare spinal stroke, paralyzing him from the neck down. Doctors initially gave him only months to live, but he defied those expectations for 14 years. He regained use of his arms and hands and worked as a DJ in Edinburgh prior to his death.
His mother, Andrea Bryden, described his life as remarkable, emphasizing his resilience and determination. Ryan faced many health challenges, battling heart strokes and pneumonia often, yet he always remained hopeful.
His son, Cameron, motivated him greatly, as Ryan always wanted to inspire him. In his later years, Ryan became deeply spiritual, loving life and embracing every moment. He found joy in nightclubs and family events and was known as a funny, happy, and upbeat brother.
Ryan leaves behind his parents and ten siblings, as well as his son, Cameron. His funeral is on Saturday, February 22nd, starting at 9 am at Old Parish Church and continuing at South Lanarkshire Crematorium. Refreshments will follow at the Montgomerie Arms.
