This means over five crimes happened per day. Ladywood had the highest rate out of 37,000 areas. Over 1,200 people live there. The crime rate is 1,441 per 1,000 residents. It is twice as dangerous as the next area.

She had rarely seen police patrol nearby. She only saw them when a crime occurred. Dave Hughes visits the area, saying he’s “staggered” by data. He thinks the area feels open and friendly to people.
He admitted that he avoids the area at night. He also said that Birmingham residents usually get along. He was shocked by the crime data release. Angela Kckeever lives in Ladywood.
She feels unsafe going to the local shop at night. She said that she hears shouting and screams. She thinks there are not enough police. Liam works in Ladywood as a local barber. He said incidents happen daily. People scream and start fights.
Other high-crime areas exist too. Leicester Square, Newcastle, and Brighton Beach were also bad. Eastgate shopping centre, Hull’s old town and Middlesbrough railway station were also trouble spots. The Daily Star contacted West Midlands Police to gather comments.
