Kirkby Police Powers Extended After Boys Slashed in Street
It started with a youth disturbance on Beattock Close around 2:45 PM on Wednesday, March 12. They found two injured boys, ages 13 and 15. Authorities think a blade caused their injuries. Reports say the injuries looked like slashes.
Both injured boys were arrested and are suspected of grievous bodily harm. A 32-year-old woman from Maghull was also arrested because police think she committed affray and had a weapon. A 13-year-old boy was also arrested for possibly wounding someone intentionally.
The Section 60 order lasts until March 17 at 8:59 AM. Police aim to stop more trouble in Kirkby, and the order covers the whole Kirkby area. Jemma Shaw said it lets officers search for weapons and reassures people that they are safe.
Police did not report serious violence overnight, which shows the proactive measures work, Shaw said. She added the order isn’t to bother anyone, but to stop violence in the area. They want everyone to feel secure where they live.
Shaw urged parents to know where their kids are going and asked them to report any worries to the police. Knife crime ruins lives, so we must reduce risk. If you know about this incident or crime in Kirkby, tell the police.
