Patryk Skupinski, convicted of murdering Marlene Doyle in 2022, has died in HMP Gartree while serving his sentence.

Skupinski attacked Doyle at her Coventry flat. Police found her with severe head injuries after relatives became worried when they could not reach her. She likely died days before police found her.
A jury found Skupinski guilty of murder, and he received a minimum of 21 years in prison in 2023. Skupinski has since died.
He died at HMP Gartree on January 29. This prison is in Leicestershire. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is now investigating his death.
Adrian Usher stated his office investigates all deaths in custody. They are currently investigating Skupinski’s death and will release their report after the inquest.
Police are treating his death as unexplained. Leicestershire Police confirmed the death at HMP Gartree and officers are investigating for the coroner. No arrests have been made.
Three others went to jail for helping Skupinski, including his mother, Hanna Skupinski, who hid him for days, according to police. His mother also explored helping him flee the country. Police reported Doyle experienced domestic abuse before her death.
