Children rushed to hospital after a swing broke at Ayr beach park, trapping them underneath its collapsed structure.

Boys tried to free themselves. One boy managed to get out, but others struggled to escape. Girls nearby laughed at first, but they panicked when they saw the danger. One girl said she was going to cry.
Two twelve-year-old boys went to Ayr Hospital. One had a concussion. The other had trouble breathing and had neck and back pain. A third child went to the hospital later and also suffered a concussion.
A parent got a call from their son, who said equipment broke and he fell. A lady said the swing snapped, and everyone on it fell. The parent rushed to the park and found their son’s friend had a sore head.
The parent took both boys home, later taking their son to the hospital. The friend’s parents also took him. Doctors said the son had soft tissue damage, while the friend had a concussion.
The parent saw the video later and found the whole thing concerning. It could have been much worse. A child should not end up in the hospital; it was distressing to see their son trapped.
The swing looked very solid with metal chains. It could have caused a serious injury. Parents told the council about it Monday and were stunned by the response.
The parent felt the council did not take it seriously. The council would remove the equipment to look at what went wrong. However, the council did not do a proper investigation and failed to speak to the parents.
The park will get busier during summer, so equipment safety matters to parents. A council spokesperson spoke about safety, saying play areas get weekly inspections completed by qualified employees.
They are investigating the incident now. The council removed the equipment, and that specific equipment is nowhere else. The council wished the kids a fast recovery.
