Campbell Scott’s body was found in a Kenyan forest with a history of crime. Police investigate death after nightclub visit.

Residents described past incidents, noting bodies were found near where Scott was discovered, only a few hundred meters away. One person warned to avoid the dumpers, suggesting, “Your body could be next.” Criminals see it as a dumping ground.
Campbell Scott was from Dunfermline. He was found with bound hands and legs. A herder reported finding the body. Police arrested a taxi driver and waiter and are investigating Scott’s death.
Scott, a credit firm director, was in Nairobi for business on February 15th. He went to a nightclub that night. CCTV footage showed him with a man, which was his last sighting.
A photo resembling Scott’s body appeared on social media, showing him in the same clothes, lying face up on an open sack. Pineapples were with him in the sack.
The killers may have used the fruit as a disguise, posing as fruit vendors. This could explain the pineapples at roadblocks. The area has become a crime hotspot.
Two bodies were found near Scott’s in 2023. One was a businessman from Wote, and the other was too decomposed for identification. A baby was also found.
Herders heard a baby crying; the six-month-old was in the thick bushes. A woman relayed it was left to die, while others found a foetus in a box.
Nicholas Muasa, a retired major living in Makongo, blames the lack of lights and cameras. The highway by the forest has none. Residents fear what they might see.
Muasa said witnessing crimes is dangerous, especially at night. The dumping shows criminals know the area is unsafe. People fear for their safety, and the government must fix this.
Joseph Kioko, a welder, noticed the bodies weren’t locals, implying killers know Makongo hides bodies well. Benard Mwangangi frequently sees bodies and notes that security patrols are too rare.
Mwangangi stated bodies often appear. The deserted forest encourages crime, making people feel unsafe. A year rarely ends without a body being found. Police declined to comment.
Scott stayed at the JW Marriott for a conference. He left on Sunday at 11:15 am, according to his colleague, who believed he was taking a walk.
He did not return to the hotel, prompting them to report him to the police. Interpol then joined the search. Media reported signs of torture and strangulation. The autopsy results are pending.
