Plans to demolish buildings on a Kent high street to make way for 28 new houses have been submitted. Parking concerns addressed.

Parklake Estates submitted these plans. They showed earlier plans last year, and people got to share their ideas then. Initially, they planned for 75 homes, but they reduced that significantly to 28 houses. Parking will improve too.
The plans include various-sized houses; there will be two, three, four, and five-bedroom options. The site now has only twenty parking spots, but they intend to increase these to thirty-six spots. Cyclists will also gain thirty-two cycle spaces.
Some businesses will remain untouched. Thai Market will stay, as will the Pizza Hut. Numbers 322 and 324 High Street also stay. Other structures face demolition, including a former bed shop, and the RockChurch Kent is also going.
The old factory buildings are being torn down. The developers consulted the public, and this feedback shaped the final plans. They considered the area’s design features, which also influenced the design choices.
The twelve houses on the High Street will blend in, and the fifteen homes further back will do the same. The developers want the homes to fit in, using both the style and materials to match. Each house will get its own rear garden. They will also share a community garden, and part of this garden is open to everyone.
Locals worried about parking during initial talks. Therefore, plans changed to remove apartment blocks. Medway Council is reviewing the application, and councillors might later decide on these plans.
