Kent named UK’s best home county, boasting a World Heritage Site, coast, and historic pubs.

The Telegraph ranked these counties based on weekend trips and pubs. They also considered walks and cultural sites, using 40 data categories to make the list. The newspaper considered population density, vineyards, and Michelin stars. Blue Flag beaches also mattered and contributed to the overall score.
They gave scores for history, peace, luxury, and nature. Kent ultimately won overall. Kent is known as the “Garden of England” due to its historic sites and nice gardens.
It also features trendy towns. Kent got first place in History and Culture, and performed well in other categories. However, Kent lost points for peace and quiet because there are fast trains and many people.
The county still has Canterbury Cathedral, recognized by UNESCO for its importance. It is a very old Christian building. Kent also boasts 27 English Heritage properties and four Roman sites.
The coast is 350 miles long, featuring white cliffs, bays, and beaches, which offer stunning views. Whitstable oysters are a special food that the Romans enjoyed long ago. East Kent goldings are famous hops, and Kentish ale is a popular drink.
Kent is home to 1,534 Camra pubs. The Rose Inn in Wickhambreaux, a Grade II listed building dating back to the 14th century, is over 300 years old.
Margate is a seaside town with art, housing the Turner Contemporary gallery. Folkestone also ranks highly.
