Two men face trial for a jewelry store robbery. The court says a manager killed himself after the incident.
Junior Kunu, age 30, and Mannix Pedro, age 37, are the accused. They are charged with planning the robbery with others, where over 70 expensive watches got stolen from a London store last year.
Oliver White, age 27, was the office manager who killed himself the day after the robbery, jurors heard. Kunu is from Mitcham, and Pedro is from Woking; both deny the charges.
The judge told the jury they can reach a majority decision, although a unanimous decision is still preferred. The jury has been deciding for three days now, having started on Thursday with eleven jurors.
The court says at least two others are still free who supposedly helped with the robbery. Mr. White gave a police statement before he died, and the court read this statement aloud.
He said two men came into the store on May 25, and he noticed nothing suspicious about them. Mr. White said they put him in a headlock to steal. Pedro wasn’t in the store, but the court records say he helped plan it and even arranged a stolen getaway car. The trial continues.
