Jimmy’s Killer Prawns, famed for seafood platters, launches a new Nottingham restaurant with spice levels for all.

The restaurant has various prawn dishes. They offer killer platters, queen prawns, king prawns, and saucy prawns. Gratin prawns, dynamite prawns, and prawn saganaki are also available, with the latter prepared in tomato sauce with feta.
Jimmy’s offers more than just prawns. They have calamari, crab, lobster, salmon, and seabass on the menu. You can enjoy classic fish and chips. For non-seafood lovers, try garlic cheese bread or lamb chops as a starter. Mains include pasta, fried chicken, burgers, ribs, and steak.
Jimmy Christelis founded Jimmy’s in 1991 after having a dream about prawn platters. The first restaurant opened in South Africa, and now Jimmy’s operates as an international franchise.
Farhan Patel is the Nottingham franchisee, and he says prawns are key to Jimmy’s. They added two extra spice levels; the extreme spice is targeted toward a South Asian audience and uses naga sauce for extra heat.
Seafood can be hard to cook at home, as it’s challenging to find the right ingredients and achieve the correct flavors. Some people love seafood while others avoid it completely; one customer visited three days in a row.
A single platter with 18 prawns costs £22.75 and comes with rice or chips. The most expensive platter costs £136.95 and serves up to four people. This platter has lobster, prawns, fish, calamari, rice, and chips, while burgers cost under £10.
Killer Boils are popular thanks to TikTok, containing seafood, corn, potato, and boiled egg in a special sauce. Jimmy’s doesn’t serve alcohol, but you can order mocktails instead. Virgin margaritas and passion fruit mojitos are options, along with fizzy drinks and milkshakes.
The restaurant opened recently and was busy from the start. One night, they had an electrical problem, and some diners were in the dark. Despite this, they served the food.
The restaurant seats 130 people and features red and grey decor. Illuminated slogans decorate the walls, one saying “The Prawnfessionals,” and another saying “The addictive taste”. The restaurant seems smaller at first, but ninety seats are hidden in the back. It was previously a shisha café, and before that, it was a bank.
The back area allows flexibility and can host parties while keeping the front area open. The closest Jimmy’s was in Leicester, where people traveled to eat. Farhan wanted a Nottingham location and chose a spot near the city center to be accessible to everyone.
Jimmy’s is open seven days a week from 5 pm to 10 pm and is licensed until midnight. They are currently taking walk-ins, but online reservations are coming soon.
