A coroner’s inquest is set for March 18 for two Ryanair pilots who died in a motorway crash en route to Liverpool Airport.

Matt was 28 and Jamie was 24. They were going to Liverpool Airport in a taxi. Two lorries were also involved in the crash, which happened July 11 last year.
The crash occurred on the westbound M62, between junctions 8 and 7. Matt and Jamie died right away, while the taxi driver went to the hospital with serious injuries.
An inquest will be held March 18 at Cheshire Coroner’s Court. A lorry driver was arrested and may have caused their deaths. He is due in court on March 12.
Matt’s family shared a statement, saying Matt loved life and new experiences. He became a Ryanair Captain and loved flying and the views. He also enjoyed sports like golf, and had married Hannah three months before he died.
Jamie’s LinkedIn profile said he joined Ryanair in May 2024. He studied at Buckinghamshire New University and also went to Bolton School. He got his pilot’s licence in Quebec.
Jamie’s family also shared a statement, saying Jamie was living his best life. He loved flying, fulfilling his childhood dream, and enjoyed his job and work friends. He played golf, squash, and hockey and was known to be kind and funny.
