Residents will see a small council tax increase to support Humberside Fire & Rescue, ensuring service improvements.

Band D properties will pay £2.84 more per year. This increase helps maintain and improve fire services. The money supports Humberside Fire & Rescue Service. Most homes pay less than £2.84 extra.
That’s because most are in Band C or lower. A survey showed people mostly supported the increase. Over 70% agreed with raising the fire service funds. The Fire Authority discussed public feedback before voting.
They thought about inflation’s impact on people’s finances. They balanced this against service needs and future investment. Martyn Ransom said they considered people’s financial strain. He is the finance director for Humberside Fire Authority. They decided to raise the tax carefully.
He shared it will help keep fire services excellent. The money will also fund important resource investments. This benefits everyone in the Humber area.
Most of the budget, £38 million, aids fire response. Prevention and protection efforts also get funding. £17.3 million maintains equipment and vehicles. Training and building upkeep is covered too. This ensures staff provide excellent service.
Fire and rescue charges form a small part of council tax. Local authorities decide the main portion of these bills. It’s not all decided by the fire service.
