Gardaí investigate after partial human remains are discovered at a Dublin school. The State Pathologist has been also notified.

The discovery occurred at Our Lady Immaculate Junior School in Darndale, this afternoon. Gardaí secured the location as a crime scene, and the State Pathologist got informed about it.
A Garda spokesperson made a statement to Dublin Live. They confirmed the discovery of remains at a Darndale premise, Dublin 17, on Friday, February 21st, 2025.
The State Pathologist was notified, following standard procedure. They will remove the remains for examination, and DNA analysis will also be performed. This will help Gardaí to identify the remains and determine the investigation’s direction. Enquiries continue now.
A Dublin MEP, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, spoke to Dublin Live, describing the incident as “particularly grim.” He said it seems a very disturbing development.
He mentioned ongoing speculation about the event and that they’re looking into the context and the nature of the find. He noted the grim nature of the discovery, happening on school grounds during mid-term break, preventing children from being impacted.
