Emma Hardy MP addresses worries about work at Anlaby Common. Drainage fixes and cleanup, not construction.

Turns out, it’s privately owned, not actually a common. Emma Hardy, the MP, checked it out and spoke with Land Plan. They have worked for the owner since 2007.
Don’t worry, no buildings are going up, confirmed by the council. It’s just maintenance to improve the drainage, and they are also cleaning up a lot of dumped trash. The work should wrap up by February 28 for the birds.
Shrubs got removed, making some a bit worried, fearing it would hurt animals living there. The Parish Council checked things out, too, stating it’s not a construction project.
Emma visited the Common after her statement, and talked with people. David Nolan, a councilor, came too, along with a person from the Environment Agency.
Emma will ask Natural England about the wildlife and contact the Wildlife Crime Officer about the land. Councilor Nolan will speak to East Riding Council experts, and the Agency will check land drainage. She will keep residents in the loop.
