A Hull man was jailed for 14 months after a woman was injured in a domestic argument. A ten-year restraining order was also issued.

Campbell, age 34, admitted to hurting the woman and confessed to harassing her earlier that year. In doing so, he avoided a trial for a serious charge by pleading guilty to a lesser offense. The prosecutor highlighted alcohol as a significant factor, noting that Campbell was sometimes violent and that both people consumed alcohol during the incident.
They argued, but specific details remain fuzzy. The woman sustained a severe leg wound, possibly caused by a weapon; however, it remained unclear if it was a knife. His lawyer stated that the violence was unplanned, explaining that they had been dating for approximately four months. The woman had previously stated that their relationship was volatile, marked by drug and alcohol abuse.
The lawyer noted the impact on the woman and acknowledged that the relationship is over. Campbell has struggled with drug addiction for years but once worked as a drainage engineer. He hopes to return to that job after his release.
Campbell started using drugs after a prior jail term. “He acknowledges his drug and alcohol problems,” his lawyer stated, adding that Campbell wants to rebuild his life and apologizes for his actions. Campbell had been in jail since July 6 and has a 16-year-old daughter.
The judge stated that Campbell scared his ex. He also harassed her, according to the judge, and they fought often when drunk or high. The judge noted Campbell’s long-term addiction, adding that the woman was also an addict, which made her more vulnerable, and that it happened at her home. Campbell also had past violence convictions.
Campbell received a 14-month jail sentence but was expected to be freed soon due to time already served. The court also issued a ten-year restraining order.
