Hey, listen to this! Someone wants to build a big solar farm. It will sit near the A1(M) in North Yorkshire.

The solar farm would cover 80 hectares north of Brompton-on-Swale. They will put panels on both sides of the road, potentially making nearly 40MW of power.

The plan includes substations, power stations, and CCTV. Underground cables are also part of it, and a fence will surround everything.

The solar farm should work for 40 years, after which the land returns to normal. They claim it will help the soil quality through soil deintensification.

They sent the plans to the council. The layout is designed to be efficient, using the land well and respecting nature, as they are keeping existing plants and trees.

The plans also consider nearby homes, using panels with a special anti-glare coating to reduce glare.

The solar farm uses lower-grade farmland, and they asked locals for their thoughts, claiming to have considered people’s views. The council has not received formal comments on the plans yet.

Brompton Solar, linked to Harmony Energy, is in charge. They managed a similar 55MW farm in Skeeby which was later sold. This new site is beside the previous one.
