Lawrence Rodgers, 103, celebrates with Huddersfield Town visit and game, a dream come true thanks to care home staff.

Claire Ballion works at Lawrence’s care home. She invited Andy Booth to visit him. Andy used to play for Huddersfield Town. The care home, called Cleveland House, is in Edgerton, Huddersfield.
Lawrence loves football and was thrilled to meet Andy. They talked about being a player. Andy gave Lawrence tickets for a private box at a match. Huddersfield played Reading that day.
Lawrence went to the game with family, including his great-grandson. Gordon Wingrove, a friend from the home, joined them. Claire Ballion and Rachel Walsh also attended. Everyone enjoyed watching from the box.
Claire Ballion was very happy for Lawrence. She saw Andy’s visit made him happy, and Lawrence was amazed about going to the game. He had a great day with family and friends. Claire also thanked Andy for visiting.
Lawrence used to work with Lancaster bombers in the Royal Air Force. RAF members visited Cleveland House, wearing uniforms to wish him well. This made his birthday even better.
Lawrence felt very excited and nostalgic. He couldn’t believe the plans for his birthday. He was honored by the RAF visit, as it reminded him of his time in service.
