HS2 lodges final design for a bridge over road for Solihull. Plans include earthworks, fencing, and lighting.

The High Speed Rail Act makes sure bridges get built. The council checks their design and building. This application has detailed plans for it, seeking permission for earthworks, fences, and lights.
The bridge will sit south-east of the National Education Centre, and north-east of Hampton-in-Arden. Also, HS2 plans to move part of Diddington Lane, going north of its current location.
The bridge’s height will be about 13 meters from the track to the top. Also, it will be 3.2 meters from the ground. Rail to bridge bottom will be approximately 7.4 meters.
They’ll plant native bushes and trees there to help birds find food and nests. Small ponds offer resting spots for fish, and plants on the banks give them shelter.
A sound barrier was planned but it is gone because a school moved elsewhere in Solihull. You can share your opinion until March 7th. Look for application PL/2025/00286/HS2DIS online.
HS2 will connect to a station near the airport. The first part of HS2 should open, which is the London to Birmingham section, expected between 2029 and 2033.
