Couple injured in hit and run crash in Manchester. The woman suffered a fractured sternum, the man covered in blood.
James Lindemann and Rachael were in the car. A friend drove them home from a party. It was early February 2 in Manchester. The crash was a nightmare.
They were on Simonsway in Wythenshawe. James said a car hit them around 2:30 AM. He thinks two young people drove that car, coming from Greenbrow Road.
James said their car was hit by a speeding black Vauxhall. He had blood all over his face, and his wife fractured her sternum. The Vauxhall driver and passenger ran off after the incident.
James recalled a sudden impact and said the crash could have been much worse. Airbags deployed, and he saw blood. He kept asking what happened to them, as his wife had trouble breathing. Both went to the hospital after the accident.
Doctors said he only had a nose nick. But Rachael’s chest was fractured; the seatbelt and crash hurt her chest badly. She stayed 36 hours at the hospital. Luckily, no organs were harmed, but she cannot lie down because her legs are so bruised.
The family wants help finding those responsible and think the Vauxhall was stolen. James, a father of three, worries about the Vauxhall’s occupants. He said they were very close to a disaster and hopes someone knows something about it still.
He believes parents must tell their children about dangerous driving, as the young people could have died too. They drove recklessly and risked everyone’s life. He hopes they face consequences.
Police confirmed they knew about the crash report. Two people went to the hospital for checks, but the two from the other car are still missing. Police continue to investigate the case.
