A woman saved a shop worker in Huddersfield from a petrol attack and fire, pulling him to safety.

Marina Naz was shopping for soda when a man came into the store. He had a green container and threatened a worker. The attacker yelled, “I will kill you!” He then threw petrol at the worker, who stood behind the register.
Marina, age 35, told Yorkshire Live that the store then caught fire, and she heard the man yelling for help. “The shop was on fire,” she stated. Marina grabbed his arm and pulled him outside to safety. He could have died, she explained, noting he looked very panicked at the time.
The shop worker seemed shocked by the fire, shouting, “I am burning, the shop is burning!” He needed help right away. Outside, Marina ripped his shirt off, thinking he suffered burns from the fire. Then, they waited for emergency services, but Marina noticed people were just watching them.
Cars stopped, but no one offered help, causing Marina to become even more worried. Police officers praised Marina’s rescue, telling her, “Well done, you saved him!” They said her actions were brave.
Marina inhaled smoke and hurt her finger. She went to the hospital to get checked because she felt dizzy and sick afterward. The fire damaged Kaay News shop in Crosland Moor, and authorities suspect it was arson. This incident happened on Tuesday, February 25.
Marina is recovering now, but she remains shocked. “I have not slept,” she said, explaining all she can see is fire. Police arrested a 29-year-old man, suspecting him of arson with intent to endanger life. The arrest relates to the fire.
Police received a call at 7:17 p.m., reporting a disturbance involving a fire at a business on Blackmoorfoot Road. Officers arrived and found three people needing urgent medical help. One man was hospitalized with small injuries. The arrested man remains in custody today.
Police ask witnesses to contact Kirklees District CID at 101 or use the live chat on the police website, referencing crime number 13250109708. A cleaning operation is currently underway, and the shop owner plans to reopen soon, hoping to open in ten days.
