Emma Dean, 25, saw a dog attack her mother-in-law. This happened just eight weeks after they rescued the dog. Emma got her three kids to safety quickly. The dog suddenly became aggressive and attacked. It happened at her in-laws’ home on February 15th.

The kids are aged nine, seven, and four. Emma thinks the dog got jealous of her son. He came to sit near her around 11:40 PM. Joanne White, 44, is in the hospital right now, getting treatment for her injuries.

Emma and her partner Gary Hall, 43, adopted the dog. They had it for only eight weeks before this incident. People told them it was a “staffy breed.” Emma stayed at her mother-in-law’s house on weekends. Her two older kids slept on the sofa bed.

Her four-year-old woke up and went to Emma, who was sitting on a chair in the kitchen. The dog was very protective of Emma. When her son came near her, he growled. Emma told the dog to move away. The dog then nipped Gary’s hand. Joanne asked what happened.

Then, the dog attacked Joanne’s leg. Emma quickly moved her kids to the back porch and shut the door to keep them safe. Gary went upstairs to get away from the dog. Joanne jumped on the dog to stop the attack.

The dog dragged her around on the floor. Emma called the police for help immediately. Police said the kids were playing hide and seek. Emma stated that wasn’t true at all and that she felt helpless watching the attack.

She couldn’t do anything to help Joanne; her children were her top concern at that moment. Police arrived and told Joanne to let go. She was scared the dog would keep attacking. She let go, and the police used a Taser.

It didn’t stop the dog right away. They tasered him again, and it ran outside. More police arrived at the back of the house and spoke with Emma’s kids. The dog was euthanized after this violent attack. The children are now very traumatized because of it.

Emma believes it was a mixed breed dog, and a post-mortem exam will confirm this later on. She said they were told it was a Staffy and that the dog was usually lovely but changed. The attack was very scary for everyone there.

Joanne was bitten over 60 times and has injuries on her arms and her face. Gary has a chunk missing from his leg. Joanne needs more surgery for her many injuries today. Emma’s kids are okay physically but shaken up because of the attack.

Her youngest thought his grandma had died. Emma feels it was her quick thinking that saved everyone in the house. She feels the dog got jealous of her son. When Gary told him off, he “saw red,” then it kept attacking until someone was dead.

She’s glad she was there to call the police for them. Police stated one injured person went home. The other one remains in the hospital currently. The dog was euthanized, so they didn’t identify its breed.
