Rikki Berry’s mother was too devastated to attend his funeral after the sentencing of his killers, Smith, Williams and Walsh.

Rikki’s mom was heartbroken and could not attend his funeral. The jury convicted the three men, who were also guilty of firearm possession. The sentencing happened Tuesday at Liverpool Crown Court.
Smith and Williams got life sentences and must serve at least 31 years. Walsh also received life imprisonment. His minimum term will be 30 years.
Smith was the gunman, and Williams drove the car. Walsh’s DNA was on a bullet casing.
Family statements were read in court. Rikki’s mother, Donna, spoke of her pain and stated her son’s murder took part of her. She called the killers cowards, and the family felt destroyed by the crime.
Rikki’s father, also Ricky, spoke and said he never said goodbye to his son. He added that the murder destroyed their family. Rikki’s sister, Roxanne, explained her niece’s grief, as the child wanted to see her daddy in heaven.
Another sister, Courtney, described a nightmare. She missed his face, voice, and laugh and cherished the memories of “Nuggy.” Now, no more memories can be made, and she hoped the killers felt equal pain.
Rikki’s sister Olivia expressed deep hurt, stating that the pain they caused was beyond words. Their family is broken without Rikki and never got to say goodbye. The family felt they died inside too and will miss him.
Williams admitted driving the SUV with the gunman minutes after a “reconnaissance mission.” They drove by where Rikki was working. Williams and Walsh denied knowing about the plan.
Walsh’s DNA was on the bullet casing, and he rode back to the crime scene, taking his son and nephew along. Smith pleaded guilty to lesser charges midway, saying he rode the bike and claimed he just meant to scare Rikki.
