Hartlepool outlines how £600,000 riot recovery fund will be allocated for community projects and support services.

Priorities include rebuilding trust and cohesion in the community. Council officers gave updates on spending in Hartlepool. A total of £125,000 goes to a group to progress improvement schemes. These schemes include physical and community projects.
Another £30,000 will develop a health impact assessment, This includes understanding long term health needs. A further £30,000 increases capacity and goes to the safer communities service. They will advance restorative justice work.
Another £30,000 will target young people. This will raise awareness of racism and hate crime. Meanwhile, £50,000 will aid affected businesses and support property investment. They identified properties through assessment.
About £40,000 will work with young people to develop education and awareness. The work will address issues and “celebrate difference”. Another £40,000 develops a campaign about misinformation. This includes digital literacy training.
In January, they agreed to use £70,000 to support engagement and a cohesion strategy. This strategy is specifically for Hartlepool. A decision about the remaining £75,000 is coming soon.
