Hartlepool considers redeveloping its Civic Centre, prioritizing town center improvements. No final decisions have been made.

The council has a plan for 2025-2028. This plan mentions the Civic Quarter redevelopment as a priority for town centre improvements. The area includes the Civic Centre and the old Magistrates’ Court.
Councillor Shane Moore asked about updates at a meeting. He specifically inquired about replacing the Civic Centre and wanted to know about timelines. Councillor Brenda Harrison responded by saying they discussed the Civic Quarter a lot, but right now, there are no solid plans to share. She stated they’d publicize a plan when ready.
A 2021 report outlines goals for the site, aiming to improve connections and add vibrancy to the town. The plans include a good view onto Victory Square and a 2023 plan calls the project medium-term, meaning it could take three to five years.
The project could bring new buildings and uses, hoping to attract new businesses and residents, focusing on the town center. Other councillors praised the town’s new developments, mentioning the new leisure center and chapel renovation.
