Halifax bank in Bearwood closing in 2026. Sandwell Council approves plans for shops and flats by NTInvestments.

They’re going to replace the bank with shops and flats. NTInvestments from Perry Barr made the plan, and the council said yes to their idea.
The bank will become two new shops, with six flats added in the back. There will be two one-bed flats and four two-bed flats planned. Two parking spots will come with the flats. The plan changed a bit since June last year.
Next door, there’s a new house already. It’s a 19-bed house that the council approved last October. The developers say the new design is nice.
The shops aim to attract new business, and the flats should be good for people. The bank closing helps diversify the area’s businesses. Banks use tech more now, and many don’t need high street locations.
The building is perfect for reuse. Adding flats helps with housing demand, and it’s close to jobs and transport. This gives new life to the area.
