A young man died in Hackney. He was just twenty years old, and people are sharing memories of him, saying he was a “good guy”. Police responded to Bodney Road on Tuesday around 6 PM, and the London Ambulance Service also arrived, but he died at the scene from a stab wound. Police arrested two men, ages 23 and 25, on suspicion of murder.

Police guarded the area while forensics teams examined the crime scene. Residents spoke about the young man, and a family friend shared her grief with the news, asking why he was dead. She said he felt like family. Her son is heartbroken, but she can’t tell him about it yet.

The family friend saw him recently, and he hugged her tightly. She cried when she learned of his death. Another man at the scene was upset, saying he knew the victim for years and loved him like a brother. He said the victim avoided trouble and knew everyone in the area.

Neighbors are shocked by the stabbing. One woman, Ms. Johnson, said she felt safe there and hasn’t seen violence like this before.

This is London’s fifth fatal stabbing this year. Four victims were adult men, and one was Kelyan Bokassa, age 14. The Home Office announced new anti-knife plans, including requiring retailers to report suspicious sales to police and imposing longer sentences for selling weapons to kids.

The new rules are called Ronan’s Law. Ronan Kanda was killed by mistake after two boys bought knives easily without needing ID.

Police responded to a fight on Bodney Road at 5:59 PM on Tuesday, the 18th. The man died from a stab wound despite the efforts of officers and paramedics who tried unsuccessfully to save him at the scene.

Police arrested two men that night, ages 25 and 23. They are in custody, being questioned. The crime scene on Bodney Road remains, and forensics teams are still investigating there.

Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall leads the investigation and sends condolences to the family. She thanks Hackney residents for their patience, acknowledging the difficulty this presents for them, and assures them of increased police visibility in the area.
