A firearm was discovered near Everton Park on Rose Vale, raising concerns for public safety.

Someone found the gun near Everton Park. The person discovered it on Rose Vale, a street running next to the park. This discovery occurred around 3:20 PM last Friday, February 28.
Officers quickly went to the scene and took the weapon away. The police will test the gun to check if it can fire.
Detective John Mullen, who works with the firearms team, spoke out. He said people were around, and kids walked home from school nearby. He stated criminals don’t care about that.
Mullen explained that criminals hide guns in public to avoid getting caught. Leaving guns is dangerous, he said, and it risks innocent people’s safety. Police want these harmful people caught.
Mullen urged people to help by reporting gun storage or gun crime. He asked the public to make streets safer. Contact police if you know something, and call 999 if a crime occurs now.
