Listen, Guildford’s Southway road will close soon. Surrey Highways plans safety upgrades for people walking. They’re putting in a new crossing and road markings.

The road shuts down February 17th for fifteen days. This affects a part of Southway in Park Barn. But don’t worry; you can still walk there. They will keep a walkway open during construction.

Southway matters a lot in that part of town. People use it to get to the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Plus, two schools are right on that road too. The closed section impacts the school entrances. It includes Guildford Grove Primary’s entry. Also, it covers the east entrance to King’s College.

They specified the closed area more clearly. It goes from Southway Court to house number 271. This helps residents know exactly what’s happening. Surrey Highways wants to cause as little bother as possible. The team sent letters to Southway area residents.

They said you can still get to your places. You can still use sections of Southway. Use the open sections, plus Park Barn Drive. Also, Cabell Road will help you get around.

The road closure impacts bus routes too. Safeguard buses changed routes for the 4 and 5. These buses go to Park Barn. Certain stops are temporarily closed. The closed stops are Homestall, Park Barn shops, and King’s College. The bus will now stop at the Community Centre. It’s on Cabell Road. Then, it goes back to its usual route.
