Guide Dogs hosts a Valentine-themed event this weekend in Newcastle’s Eldon Square to promote volunteering.

The charity will be in the Community Quarter on Saturday where people can meet staff, volunteers, and puppies.
This event helps people with sight loss and shows what volunteers do for them, encouraging more people to volunteer and learn more about it.
You can volunteer in many ways such as raising a puppy, offering fostering, helping fundraise, or offering help in your community.
Shannon Butler, who coordinates local volunteer efforts, spoke about volunteers, saying they change lives and this event may inspire more people to join the Guide Dogs family.
The event lets you find volunteering roles and talk to current volunteers who will share their stories. Guide Dogs needs puppy raisers and fosterers are needed in the North East.
Puppy raisers give young pups a home and help them grow confident while learning obedience in new places. Fosterers care for dogs briefly during advanced training.
Both roles shape guide dogs’ lives, who then aid visually impaired folks. You need no prior experience to help, and volunteer hours are very flexible.
