Council plans to demolish Osborne Street buildings for a new transport hub, approved last September.

The plan won approval last September. It involves a 1.6-acre site near Osborne Street. Initial surveys help design the hub’s initial phase. This phase is on the Garden Street lot. Osborne Street will provide access after demolition.
The buildings slated for removal are from the 70s. They replaced old housing. Most have been empty for a while. The Haven Centre moved earlier this year. North East Lincolnshire Council filed the application. It shows where safety barriers will go during demolition.
If approved, the bus stop moves. It will be up Osborne/Bethlehem Street. The hub unites buses and bikes. It links to the train station nearby. The goal is to boost public transport. It also aims to help Grimsby’s overall revival.
Stage one is a large open space. It consolidates all bus shelters. More funding is needed for a hub building. That is part of stage two.
Demolition contractors must limit landfill waste. They must also salvage bricks. Recycling steel and concrete is also important.
