New Greggs and Starbucks drive-thrus get the green light in Chadderton, creating jobs and boosting local amenities.

Oldham Council approved building plans this week, submitted last November. The stores will be opposite each other in an area of the car park that is not well used now.
Starbucks, at 171 square meters, will be slightly bigger than Greggs, which is 167 square meters. Both stores will share 41 parking spots for cars and bikes.
The stores will create new jobs in Oldham, both during construction and after opening. They offer training and career growth.
Greggs opened its first drive-thru in 2017 in Irlam, Salford. They tested the idea after public demand and now have over fifteen drive-thrus.
Starbucks opened their first drive-thru in 2008 in Cardiff. In 2023, they had drive-thrus in over 800 towns.
Nobody objected to the new stores. Construction must start within three years, following all risk assessment rules and laws.
