The government gave money to fix a Cork landmark. It’s great news for people living there. The government gave Cork City Council €400,000. They will use it to fix the Shandon Clock.

People call the clock the ‘Four-Faced Liar.’ The nickname fits it well. For a year, it’s been wrong. Three faces show the wrong time. One face stopped working totally.

Philip Stokes used to fix the clock. Stokes stopped doing it this year. He was worried about safety issues.

Ken O’Flynn is a Cork TD. He thanked the government today. He said they helped protect Cork’s heritage.

O’Flynn loves the Shandon Clock. It saw much of the city’s history. It marked events for many years. He said they must keep it great for everyone.

O’Flynn said the money shows what the clock means. Keeping history safe matters, he claimed.

O’Flynn added this is more than just repairs. It protects their shared past for the young. He wants people to share ideas. They can plan how best to honor the clock.
