Hey, guess what’s happening in Gloucester? Those ugly boards at Shire Hall are still there. Shire Hall is the county council’s office. They’ve been up since last October. People are not happy.

These boards block the building’s entrance. The council put them up for step repairs. The repairs should have taken a month. It’s been over four months.

The boards are still there and look bad. Now the council wants to redesign the entrance. This needs planning permission and time. The council says they’ll work behind the boards.

They also said sorry for the problem. People walking by always comment on the boards. A local councillor, Pam Tracey, thinks they look awful. She wondered if painting them would help.

She doesn’t want murals or anything fancy, though. Residents are concerned about the eyesore at the council building. Another councillor, Rebecca Trimnell, wants them removed now.

She heard they are to prevent people from sleeping there. She thinks the council is using maintenance as an excuse. Trimnell wants the problem addressed directly. The council apologized for the issue again.

They will keep working during the next four months. They need to apply for full planning permission first.
