Govan will receive an upgrade with 20km of cycle routes and widened paths, aims to improve connectivity and attractiveness.

New street lighting and drainage updates are included. More routes need community feedback too. The council shared images of the changes. Cycle lanes will have dividers from the road.
Footpaths will become wider than before. Similar projects exist elsewhere, like Byers Road. “Connecting Greater Govan” hopes to improve the area. The council wishes people can walk and cycle easier. They will create step-free crossings.
The council is gathering feedback on the plan. An online survey ends March 30. You can find paper copies at two locations. You can view plans and speak to council staff at a community event that will be held in February 2025 at Elder Park Library.
A council member wants a city travel network that would ideally connect Glasgow communities together and allow people to move about safely. The council encourages feedback on the designs. New travel infrastructure can help create a fairer transport system.
This system should also cut emissions and boost health. It may help create safer communities for all. Transport Scotland is funding the designs, and Sustrans administers the “Places for Everyone” program.
Sustrans says Glasgow people want to cycle more. The project helps people in Govan do so. Protected lanes can help people travel safely. Better links connect communities, so the people will stay connected to services.
