Trees are being removed near Cowcaddens Road for the Avenues project creating safer routes, cycle lanes, and new trees.

They are fixing up Cowcaddens Road and Dobbie’s Loan. New trees, cycle lanes, and wider sidewalks are coming. They’re removing plants near Cambridge Street car park. This spot has low light. Removing plants helps the overall plan. Work should take two to four days.
Some trees grow too close together. About 300 square meters of plants disappear. This makes a new walking area and cycle path. It will have fresh trees and landscaping. Sixty new trees get planted later. Two thousand square meters of new plants go in.
This big project changes a city entrance. Expect better roads and sidewalks. Also, look for cycle lanes and benches. Junctions get upgrades. Crossings will be safer too. They hope it will be done next spring.
They are changing Buchanan Bus Station access. The underpass to GCU will close. It’s for safety. A new stair will be built instead. Fifty-nine new trees will help air. These trees will manage water runoff. The goal is a better area to look at.
They’re changing the Cowcaddens Road junction layout. The north side closes to regular traffic. Emergency services can use it. The Avenues Plus work costs £21 million. Money comes from the Scottish Government. It is part of a huge investment plan.
