Glasgow taxi drivers struggle with LEZ rules. Some face license issues. Drivers must update vehicles or risk fines.

Another driver, Yonis Farqadini, faced the council. He hadn’t given them his car information. Yonis said ULEZ-ready cars were hard to find, adding that he is trying to save money.
They gave him four weeks to find a car. He then withdrew his application from the council. He can reapply if he gets a compliant vehicle.
Cars with diesel engines, post-2015 usually meet the LEZ rules. Petrol cars need to be from 2006 onward. Glasgow’s LEZ started last June. The fine for vehicles that don’t comply is sixty pounds.
Cambus Taxi Service also had a non-compliant vehicle. They found a new car, though. The council delayed their application for an inspection of the car.
One driver, Rifat Sultana, got a license renewed. The council warned her about a late car check, because the car had not passed the safety test. It has now been inspected.
Councilor Sean Ferguson asked about the delay. The applicant cited miscommunication issues and the fact that the vehicle failed an initial inspection. The councilor said to watch out for council messages.
