A Glasgow pharmacy worker received 15 months in jail for a two-year drug scheme at an east end chemist.

Doyle, 44, sold pills at Tollcross Pharmacy where she managed these drugs as a dispenser. Almost 25,000 Valium and painkillers were missing.
Doyle’s phone showed 31 people seeking drugs, even heroin. This evidence brought Doyle to Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Doyle admitted nine charges, including drug theft and supply between 2019 and 2020. She broke her position of trust. Sheriff Owen Mullan mentioned drug abuse dangers and the 31 contacts seeking drugs. He determined jail was the only option.
Fiscal Lauren Sangray said a coworker discovered Doyle in a staff area. Doyle’s handbag held ten boxes with 28 diazepam tablets each, wrapped in supplier’s packaging. The coworker reported the find to their boss, leading to an investigation.
Doyle initially denied any involvement but an audit showed missing pills, including 12,333 diazepam and 12,357 dihydrocodeine. Police found three phones at Doyle’s home and she initially told officers she did not do it.
Phone analysis revealed 31 people requesting diazepam, dihydrocodeine, morphine, diamorphine, fentanyl, pregabalin and tramadol. The absence of explanation indicates drug sales and total drug value remained undisclosed.
Doyle claimed she swapped pills for cocaine, which she used, but the sheriff said phone messages contradicted this. Doyle had addiction issues and wishes to compensate the pharmacy.
