A £4.5m grant could transform Glasgow’s Meat Market sheds into a sports and events hub, featuring enterprise and leisure facilities.

They want to build a sports hub there. An enterprise center is also in the works. Plus, they want a bar, bistro, and event space. Glasgow council will vote on this funding, and the council still needs to approve the plans.
The project aims to boost the local area. Over 250 homes already exist there. The Meat Market will be conserved.
One building might have sports facilities, and they are even thinking about Padel tennis courts. An up-cycling center could be part of it. This includes a workshop and showrooms.
Picture a covered outdoor event space. This space would sit under the sheds’ roofs. There will also be space for training. The project puts learning first.
Later, there might be a travel hub. The plan involves a new park too. This park connects two streets. The UK and Scottish governments fund the City Deal.
The City Deal funding should improve the area. This includes the park and shed upgrades. Other funding comes from different groups. The total package is £11.8m.
A councilor is happy with progress. The Meat Market site may soon change. The council thinks this is good for the city. More jobs could arrive there.
