Locals mourn John Binnie, 86, a beloved Glasgow karaoke singer known for his Horseshoe Bar performances and kind heart.

Last year, he sang at the Horseshoe bar where people danced to his Robert Palmer song. He last sang at Blane Valley on Glassford Street. His health declined after that performance.
John loved gardening besides singing. He helped people with their gardens. He sadly died of a heart attack while gardening on February 13.
He leaves behind his partner Ann and four children. One son, William, spoke about his dad’s love of gardening, saying John preferred it to staying inside.
William called his father his “biggest cheerleader.” John loved people and easily trusted them. He didn’t drink alcohol but loved to sing, and William remembers John singing at home.
Susan McAllister knew John for over twenty years and feels very sad about his death. He was her neighbor and a kind person who enjoyed life and made many friends.
Glasgow’s city center was special to John. He sang in pubs like Blane Valley and the Horseshoe, and he loved the Fullarton Park area. Susan says she will miss John a lot.
