Glasgow starts issuing fines for pavement, double, and kerb parking after prior warnings, focusing on pedestrian safety.

Parking fines are now being issued in Glasgow. The fine is £100, but £50 if you pay fast. The fine happens if pavement parking forces pedestrians into traffic.
Double parking and kerb parking also get fines. These new rules try to help pedestrians and especially aim to keep them safer. This includes people with disabilities or pushing strollers; it is all about making streets better for everyone.
The city already looked at streets. Most Glasgow streets have no parking ban exemption. They are wide enough for fire engines even with cars parked. Other streets still need assessment.
The council website has street details. Check the map online for more information. Some streets might get parking controls later, while others might get special exemptions.
Drivers should check their street’s status online to find out the rules. There are some exceptions to pavement parking. Emergency services, postal services, and waste collection are exempt. Urgent medical care and accident assistance also allow it. Delivery of goods for 20 minutes is another exception.
IT problems slowed down the parking ban. Scotland let Glasgow start in December 2023. Edinburgh began this last January.
