A man admitted to murdering another in Glasgow. Malcolm McNee, age 62, shot John McGregor, age 44. The shooting happened on August 26, 2021, in Milton. McNee chased McGregor and then fired a shotgun, hitting McGregor on Westray Street, court papers show.

McGregor passed away later at a hospital on August 28, 2021, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. McNee pleaded guilty to murder in court, with his lawyer, John Brannigan, entering the plea. McNee was about to go on trial for the crime.

McNee also admitted to trying to obstruct justice by burning a Vauxhall Corsa afterward. This car was linked to the murder. The fire occurred at Carbeth Huts on August 26, 2021.

Reece Trainer appeared with McNee in court, and his lawyer pled guilty for him. Thomas Ross said Trainer had a gun on the day and at the site of the murder. Trainer is 25 years old.

Trainer also admitted trying to obstruct justice. He boarded a plane to Alicante, Spain, the day after the murder. He then flew to Mexico or elsewhere on September 9, 2021. The Crown accepted Trainer’s not guilty plea for murder.

Both McNee and Trainer will return to court to learn their sentences. Craig Gallagher, age 45, also got charged. He is on trial for obstructing justice related to burning the Vauxhall Corsa.

The charge against Gallagher has a connection to organised crime. Gallagher claims he was somewhere else. He claims to have been in Kirkintilloch when it happened, presenting an alibi defense.

Gallagher is also accused of attacking Chloe Gallagher. She sat in a Mercedes at the murder site. Gallagher drove a van at her, causing injury and allegedly kicked the Mercedes multiple times.

Gallagher also faces other assault charges. He allegedly assaulted Chloe McCafferty, James Quinn, Andrew Quinn, and Ian Donnelly. This happened in September 2021, between Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs, where Gallagher yelled threats and had an axe.

He also is charged with having the axe without a lawful reason. Finally, Gallagher is accused of dangerous driving that day. Greg Farrell is the prosecutor, and Iain McSporran KC is Gallagher’s defender. The trial is ongoing before Lord Harrower.
