A Glasgow family endured months without heating after a gas engineer’s poor boiler installation. Sick children suffered in the cold.

Henvey runs Glasgow Gas Services and initially charged £1,640. The boiler had electrical and flue troubles, and officials later condemned the device. Ali’s sons suffered in the cold; one son needs a kidney transplant.
Ali found Henvey online after seeing good reviews. The boiler install became a disaster with dented pipes and exposed wires. A valve wasn’t replaced correctly, and the flue was installed poorly.
One son has “butterfly skin,” a condition that causes painful blisters. Ali needed hot water for his son’s care, making winter especially difficult. The family struggled without these essentials.
Gas Safe instructed Henvey to fix his work, but Ali claims Henvey made things worse. He then billed £1,600 for roof damage. Errors increased after his return.
Ali stated that Henvey didn’t install things correctly, and the system displayed the wrong units. He also damaged the roof while fixing the flue. Ali couldn’t contact Henvey afterward, and Henvey blocked Ali’s number.
Gas Safe found 19 defects in total. They considered three defects “at risk,” and the rest failed to meet standards. Ali worries about Henvey’s future work, believing he could seriously hurt someone.
Henvey denies Ali’s story completely, calling the claims lies and slander. He claims Ali sought a refund purposely. Henvey said they replaced a part freely and that Ali broke some parts afterward. Gas Safe is currently investigating this.
