Carer Jack Donald dismissed for leaving a Glasgow client early and falsifying records to cover up his misconduct.

The Scottish Social Services Council investigated and said Jack Donald broke his client’s trust. He worked for Home Instead in Glasgow. On January 27 and 28, 2024, he left early without a good reason. Afterwards, he created fake care notes.
Donald wrote he made dinner for the client and gave him wine and a gin and tonic. Next, he said he helped him get ready for bed. Donald claimed the client was sleeping soundly and that he would listen for him overnight. However, Donald never did any of these things, because he was not there.
The next morning, he wrote more lies, claiming he gave the client medicine, which he did not. He also said he supported the client that day, but he wasn’t even at the house. Panel members told Donald his actions were dishonest, as he tried to hide leaving early.
The report explained the importance of trust, stating that clients must trust social service workers. Donald’s behavior was very bad and did not meet expected standards. He fell far below what is expected of a registered worker, they said.
The report said the client was not harmed. Still, the panel called his behavior serious. They felt Donald shouldn’t be registered anymore. He is fundamentally incompatible, they stated, and with his actions, he cannot continue working.
