Dom Joly’s iconic giant phone, a key prop from Trigger Happy TV, was stolen from a museum in Amsterdam days after exhibition opening.

The phone rang loudly with a Nokia ringtone, and Dom would then shout into it. Dom Joly is 57 years old and lives in Gloucestershire. He sent the phone to a museum in Amsterdam. The museum was hosting an exhibition.
Dom says the theft happened quickly. Someone stole it just two days into the show, and he posted a video about it on social media, where he used to call Twitter “X.” Dom had the phone for 25 years.
He sent his phone to a mobile phone museum because they planned a large exhibition there. It was about the history of phones, and Dom’s big phone was supposed to be the center.
Dom received bad news this morning when the museum director emailed him. Someone walked in and stole the prop. No alarms seemed to trigger; the person just grabbed it and left.
Dom says he is truly shocked by this event. The museum apologized, but he is unhappy because, for him, this phone mattered a lot. He had safeguarded it for decades.
