The Circus Tavern, once frequented by George Best, surprises visitors with its tiny size. The pub is run by Barry Hayes.

Barry Hayes owns The Circus Tavern now. He bumps his head on the short bar. It’s only three feet long. Barry has run it for fifteen years.
Barry says it’s okay to queue single file there. This is because the pub is very tiny. He is a tall guy, at six foot five.
About 45 people fit seated, he says. Around 70 people can squeeze in standing. There is a special spot for George Best.
People often ask, “Is this it?” The pub has a funny sign out front. It says they have Europe’s “smallest bar.” It also claims the world’s biggest welcome.
Barry took it over back in 2010. He saw an ad in the paper. He made a plan and got the pub.
The pub still remembers George Best fondly. He had a favorite corner in the small bar. He liked to drink there a lot.
People actually queue at the Tavern’s bar. Some young people enjoy doing that kind of thing. It’s a weird trend, they say.
A social media group hates pub queues. They try to stop people lining up. They want people to spread out to the bar.
The group wants pubs to put up signs. The signs should discourage single-file lines. One sign suggests walking right past the queue.
